WHAT TO EXPECT

The church at Gloster Street is a group of New Testament Christians seeking to follow God by using the Bible as our guide for all the things we do. We are a diverse congregation that reflects the fact that God's church is for all people, and we work together as God's children.

Our services begin with a welcome and announcements. A song leader then leads the congregation in a few songs. An opening prayer is offered, followed by the Lord's Supper. A collection is taken following. Our minister delivers a sermon from the Bible. At the end of the sermon, the Lord's invitation is offered for anyone who wishes to respond. The service lasts about an hour and concludes with a song and a final prayer.

SINGING

Our worship music is "a cappella". We sing without the accompaniment of musical instruments. We do this in keeping with the practice of the early Christians. We worship God by focusing on praise to our heavenly Father (Ephesians 5:19).

PRAYING

Prayers are led by men of the congregation in our gatherings. We believe in the power of prayer, and we often pray for specific needs and requests.

THE LORD'S SUPPER

We observe this memorial every Sunday. The reason for this practice is our desire to follow the pattern of the early church and observe it on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7).

CONTRIBUTION

You will not be asked to make a contribution. Our members will give weekly as part of our worship to God (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). As our guest, you are not expected to make a contribution.

PREACHING

Our minister will present a Bible-centered lesson for 30-35 minutes. An invitation to respond is given at all of our meetings to encourage those who wish to respond to the Gospel message or request prayers of the church.
